tio vivo

The Tio Vivo carousel was purchased for $90 in 1937 by Ernest Martinez for the Taos Lions Club. At that time it was estimated to be over 100 years old, but it's origin is unknown.

Family & Fun

The Capital City Lions Club also participates in local functions to promote family.

Community Day in Santa Fe - When the City of Santa Fe holds its annual Community Day in June, it rents the Tio Vivo carousel from the Taos Lions Club. This carousel was a fixture at Santa Fe Fiestas for many years and it brings back many fond memories to longtime residents of Santa Fe. Several club members volunteer their time to assist with the operation of the carousel.

Santa Fe Japan Festival - The Capital City Club recently sponsored an information table at the Santa Fe Japan Festival. This festival is held at Santa Fe High School in the fall and celebrates the Japanese community here. It was a wonderful outlet for the local community to get to know us. Look for us again next year!

Family Day in Santa Fe - The state Children, Youth and Families Department holds an annual reception for foster families and their children at the Monica Roybal Youth Center on Agua Fria. Our members spend the day grilling hot dogs for those who attend.
